Newsletter 29 October
Dear Members,
The end of the season is near… But as you know, at the BDGC, we never stop. The Winter Cup 2024-2025 kicks off on Sunday 10 November, with a new sponsor for the first 4 rounds, Sam’s Wine Bar by Olivier Vos followed by Belfius Boitsfort-Auderghem with Luc Vanden Bosche. Registration as usual on BEGolf. Information, calendar and competition rules are available on the website: bdgc
I’m delighted to look back on this wonderful 2024 season. So many highlights. A quick look in the rear-view mirror.
Thank you to all the participants in our competitions. By organising so many competitions, we certainly want to improve the general level, because most of the competitions are ‘qualifying’, but also and above all to integrate and train new golfers. After all, you’re all passionate about golf and want to achieve the best. Our extensive sports programme is there to meet your expectations.
Our Seniors, Ladies, Men, Juniors and Young Golfers sections have organised a great golfing season for you, with lots of enthusiasm and plenty of activities! I’m sure that these same managers will prepare a 2025 season that will live up to your expectations. The section rounds are the best way to start your competitions, and are open to hcp 45s. Don’t hesitate to sign up in 2025.
Our club is also represented in the federal interclubs, with 5 teams, and Seniors, with 3 teams. Training sessions throughout the winter, our weekend in March, specific activities devised by the team captains and, of course, interclub matches are all important moments in the life of our club. They give meaning to the word ‘club’ and allow us to share good times together.
2025 will be a year of change and continuity, with the appointment of new team captains for Ladies 2 (Christine Vancampenhout), Ladies 3 (Nelly Slegers and Lucette Buffet), Gentlemen 3 (Kiran Desai and Alexandre Dorzée) and Gentlemen 4 (Thomas Orban and Jean Wouters). I wish them every success. Thank you to the previous captains for keeping the flame alive. If you are interested in joining a team, please do not hesitate to contact me.
After that, we had a fine and varied programme (single, doubles, 3 championships, Spring Cup and Summer Cup) for our weekend competitions. These often included some very fine prize tables, which are the envy of all the other clubs.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors. It’s impossible to list them all, but they are highlighted every week on our Facebook pages (club and sections), on our website, in our monthly newsletters and on the posters announcing competitions. Every week, with the prize-giving ceremonies in each section and the weekend prize-giving ceremony, dozens of prizes (between 40 and 60) are handed out! What happiness. And to thank our sponsors, there’s nothing like your presence at the prize-giving ceremonies.
Finally, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the volunteer members who play an active part in the life of the club for their support and dedication. Not forgetting the secretariat, pro-shop, instructors and green-keeping teams, who are supervised by Pim and Olivier.
There are several ways we can keep you informed:
– Our website: here
– In the entrance hall to the clubhouse
– On the outside signs on the way to hole 1.
– Facebook posts on the club and section pages.
– And every month during the season, we’ll keep you informed via this sports newsletter.
Finally, I, along with all the section managers, will be happy to keep you informed.
Don’t hesitate to contact us: bdgc.capitaine@gmail.com
Let’s enjoy our beautiful club in 2025!
I wish you all the best for the coming season.
Luc Kahn
